Digitize Georgia (DG) aims to cover the undiscovered places in Georgia, using Google Maps and Google My Business as the main tools for digitization.
The program will support strengthen the Local Governments (City Halls) and Destination Management Organizations (DMO) by providing the DG training and upskilling the Governor (Major) Representatives, DMO Representatives, Regional Tourism Administrations, Regional Libraries and Local Youth, who are supposed to have the significant role in this project.
To provide this support we are announcing the application process to give an opportunity to all Georgian citizens to become Digital Missioners and take their contribution in digitizing our country.

Develop the Local Guides Community
There are a lot of places (restaurants, parks, groceries, beauty salons, guest houses, pharmacies, museums, libraries, monuments, castles, temples, cultural heritages, attractions, etc.) that are not covered or is covered by mistake (wrong pin, address, information) on Google Maps. A lot of places do not include relevant information, such as entrance signs, photos (exterior & interior), working hours, contact information, etc. which drives customers to visit the place. Besides, there is a lot of fake and junk information, mostly in Russian, which not only misleads the travelers but also harms the national interests.
To fill this gap and provide access to reliable information the program will develop the Google Local Guides Communities which will combine the Local Governor Representatives (ones who know the locals (HHs and SMEs) and the local places the best), Local Librarians (who are associated with knowledge dimension and are engaged in different social projects), DMO and Regional Tourism Administration Representatives (who are interested in local tourism development) and Local Youth (who have good digital skills and high motivation to engage in volunteers programs).
Millions of people rely on Local Guides’ contributions to decide where to go and what to do. And these people – the local guides of these communities will become the Digital Missioners changing the locals’ lives for the better.
